G Study the process of democratization and the reconstruction of Japan and her entry into the international community during the period between the end of World War II and the reintegration into the international community, in relation to the global situation.


Teaching Objectives
Understand that the recovery of independence and the reintegration into the international community of Japan is deeply related to the changes in the global community.

Lesson Plan
(1) Research the major causes of the Korean War, its development and outcome, and its influence upon Japan, using the Internet as the main information source.

(2) Project the production volume of the machine industry before and after the Korean War and draw a graph of the change in output to confirm the influence of the Korean War on Japan.

(3) Summarize the contents and the problem issues of the Treaty of Peace.
a. Interview people who experienced the war to ask how they felt when Japan attained independence. Present the interview results.

Preparation/Consideration
(1) Process the statistical data using spreadsheet software to encourage the students to investigate the meaning of the data.
(2) Keep track of the students' activities by repeatedly digitalizing newly attained information, so that the students will familiarize themselves with IT.
(3) Conclude the lesson by sharing common experiences through cell phones, which allow an exchange of information any time and anywhere.
